Gentleness: The Super Secret Weapon

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. (Philippians 4:4-5)

No one advocates for gentleness, but it’s time.

When we choose Joy—day by day, moment by moment—one obstacle is our fear that Joy cause us to lose our edge. That choosing to be joyful will make us silly…simple…loving…less angry and aggressive…more gentle.

And we’re taught by the big bad world that being gentle is dangerous. We’ll be taken advantage of. We’ll leave money on the table. We won’t be taken seriously.

And? What if those things are true? What—or who—are we afraid of?

Give in to joy. Embrace gentleness.

The aggressive, angry, intense people climbing, chasing, achieving have to live with themselves. And they have to live without participating in the soul-satisfying joy that, “The Lord is near.” Like, really near… here and now, near. With you, near. Providing for you, near.

Joy —> Gentleness —> More Joy

It’s better this way.
