You’ve heard it said, “Hurt people hurt people.”

And it’s true. But how do hurt people become healthy people?

Healthy people commit to a lifestyle of extending grace while setting boundaries. They forgive; and forgive again; and forgive some more. Yet while establishing boundaries so they can love themselves and teach others what love is not.

But in our boundary-building, we mustn’t forget that the people outside the barrier are still wounded. They aren’t making it their life mission to make us miserable. It’s an outpouring of their own pain.

Forgive.

Set boundaries.

Have compassion.

Evaluate the boundaries.

Keep forgiving.
