Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city. (Proverbs 16:32)

It’s better to be patient and wise than just win at any cost.

Winning at any cost leads to burned bridges, abuse of people, marginalized losers, destruction of creation and deterioration of trust.

Winners who destroy without self-control end up losing when it matters most. Eventually, the abused, forgotten and left-behind will rally to take back their city, and to remind the blind victor that he is not the winner he pretends to be. Ill-gotten gain comes back to haunt.

But the Patient Warrior plays the long game, honors the people and remembers what matters most as they work for win-win outcomes.
