The life span of people in the First Century (when the New Testament was written) was HALF of what it is today. People were dying from all kinds of things that are treatable today. They had far more reason to be concerned about matters of health and sickness. Not to mention, they lived under an oppressive Roman ruler who cared more about his own legacy and reputation than he did about human lives.

And yet… they focused their minds on the beauty… the goodness… what’s pure… the blessings… whatever could be celebrated… anything they could attribute to being “of God.”
